What the Leaf
Already Knows
God, the Hero's Journey, and the Life That Needs No Proof
A leaf does not hold on.
Watch a leaf fall from a tree. It does not resist the air beneath it. It does not try to steer. It rises when the wind comes, rests when the wind stops, and lands wherever it lands.
It does not argue with the landing.
The book
A companion for the beginning of the journey
What the Leaf Already Knows is written for readers between seventeen and twenty-two: the years when questions of identity, worth and meaning arrive for the first time, usually all at once, and usually without anyone to talk to about them.
It is not self-help and it is not theology. It is a quiet companion, built around the Hero's Journey, for young people who are beginning to sense that life asks for more than performance — and that the feeling of not quite enough yet is a wound they were handed, not a verdict on who they are.
Its governing image is the leaf: something that does not hold on, does not resist, and does not argue with where it lands. The book asks the reader to find that quality in themselves.
Three parts, twenty-six chapters
The World — understanding where you are, and who placed you here
The Backpack — eight qualities you already carry
The Code — eight virtues you are choosing now
From the prologue
The leaf already knows something that takes most human beings a lifetime to find.
It knows that it is enough, exactly as it is, in exactly the place where it has landed. It knows that its worth was never in question. It knows that the wind will come when the wind comes, and that its only work is to be available when it does.
This book is about that kind of knowing. Not about becoming a leaf — you are already a leaf. The question is not how to begin. You have already begun. The question is how to travel it with your eyes open.
You are the leaf. The wind is already blowing.
